In 2007, DDI was commissioned by the Del Monte Motors Corporation to conceptualize and design a bus body that would be durable and versatile while remaining economically practical to mass produce. The layout and design of what was to become the AX Series bus was crafted with the help of computer aided design (CAD) technology, before being constructed as a scale model and then a full-size body mock-up. With all the details finalized, fabrication, production, and assembly was done at the Del Monte Motors plant in Quezon City. Today, these vehicles continue to service their routes, and their reliability is testament to the DDI’s use of sound design and construction techniques.
